Give the gift of history this christmas

We are delighted to working in partnership with the South West Peak Landscape Partnership to create a new augmented reality app.

The app will bring to life the ruins of Errwood Hall in the Goyt Valley.

Errwood Hall is a very special place with a fascinating history as the home of the Grimshawe family. The grand Victorian stately home was built in the 1840s but had only stood for less than 100 years before being demolished in 1930. The ruins are a very popular place for people to visit in the Goyt Valley above Buxton.

But with no interpretation on site, we are not able to tell the full story of the hall or to convey the importance of the ruins to visitors. This is where technology comes in, we will create an Augmented Reality app that can be used on site for visitors as well as off-site for schools etc. to tell that story and inspire people to care for this special piece of our Peak District cultural heritage.

To raise the funds needed to create the app we are taking part in ‘The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2021’.

During the challenge week, 30 Nov – 7 Dec, all donations made via our TBG page will be doubled (up to £1,250).
