#70kfor70 project to receive funding from Co-op Community Fund

We delighted to announce that the Co-op store in Baslow has chosen one of our #70kfor70 projects, Peak District Health Walks, as one of their Community Fund Causes.

Each year the Co-op donates 1% of its members’ annual spend to local projects, through its Community Fund.

Our health walks will be run in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority and aim to make it easier for people with health problems to enjoy the outdoors.

Health walks help local residents who would not generally be able to get out into the National Park – giving them an opportunity to socialise, exercise and build confidence.

Our Chair Jen says “We’re delighted that the Co-op has chosen to support these walks which mean so much to local people. We all know how much better you feel after a walk in the fresh air. But, for some people with long-term ill health, getting outdoors isn’t possible without support. Together, with Co-op members, we can improve the lives of local people with poor health by leading guided walks in the Peak District National Park.”

Health walks are free and led by expert Peak District National Park rangers and volunteer rangers, helping groups to get the most out of their trips. Free transport is provided – and carers are also invited to join the walks.

We need your help to make the most of this great opportunity…
