Paths and Trails Appeal

Donate today to improve paths and trails and help make the Peak District accessible for all.

There are over 1,600 miles of path in the Peak District and each year more than 13 million people come to visit and explore this spectacular landscape. We want everyone to enjoy our beautiful countryside but the popularity of the area, along with more frequent flooding, means the paths and trails are under greater pressure than ever before.

Help repair paths and trails

When we walk in the hills, we all contribute to the erosion of the ground underfoot. Over time this can create deep scars on the hillside and damage surrounding plant life and habitats. Ongoing, high-quality path repair is essential if we are to continue to enjoy the places we love, without harming them in the process. Your donation will help repair and improve our footpaths and bridleways, ensuring that we can all enjoy them into the future.

Your gift will also help care for 34 miles of disused railway that are now traffic-free trails. This includes repairing the surface and tunnels of the popular Monsal Trail, which receives over 300,000 visitors each year, as well as funding nature recovery projects along the trail edges.

Help make the Peak District accessible for all

Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the countryside. Miles without Stiles are accessible routes designed for people with limited mobility, including wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, and the visually impaired.

Your donation will fund vital repairs to these route and create new Miles without Stiles – helping to support a Peak District which is accessible for all. Your gift will also help to replace stiles with gates, opening up opportunities for more people with limited mobility to access as much of our National Park as possible.
