‘Peaking’ Kids’ Interest for the Great Outdoors – Spotty Otter becomes a Silver Peak Partner

Leading sustainable children’s outdoor clothing company Spotty Otter is supporting the Peak District Foundation by becoming a Silver Peak Partner.

Already a key partner with the UK National Parks Foundation, Spotty Otter is turning its footsteps to its local national park – and encouraging families to do the same.

Founded in 2007 by outdoor enthusiasts frustrated by inadequate kids’ clothing – and based in the heart of the Peak District – Spotty Otter has built a strong reputation and committed following for their fun, functional, bright and hardwearing performance clothing, designed and made exclusively for kids to discover the joy of the great outdoors.

Already donating 15% of all profits from their dynamic waterproof Forest Ranger and Leader clothing and footwear ranges to the UK National Parks Foundation and Education Travel Fund, the company is now partnering with the Peak District Foundation, helping to introduce, inspire and connect children and young people to nature.

Becoming Silver level Peak Partners, the adventure enthusiasts are donating £2000 worth of children’s clothing to the Peak District National Park’s Ambassador Schools so that access to the right kit – including waterproofs and wellies – isn’t a barrier to children experiencing the outdoors.

The company is also donating 15% of sales from its Spotty Otter Nature Club Boxes to the Ambassador Schools programme, which gives teachers and pupils resources and support to access the countryside as part of primary school education.

Managing Director and “Chief Otter”, Rob Merrett, says: “An important part of our continuing National Parks partnership has been encouraging families to explore and enjoy their local “wild back yard”, so this was the natural next step for us too!

“I might be biased, but I believe the Peak District is the most varied and beautiful of the national parks. Whatever the Peak District weather, at weekends all the team love bundling our kids up in Spotty Otter clothing and striding or splashing out to Dovedale, Ladybower or Mam Tor.

“Engaging with nature has huge long-term benefits for children’s creativity, curiosity, motivation, self-confidence, mental and physical health, so we’re delighted to be supporting the wonderful Ambassadors programme to introduce more children to these treasures.”

Sarah Slowther, the Foundation’s Fundraising Development Manager, adds; “We’re passionate about people enjoying the Peak District. Our Ambassador Schools programme gives young people the opportunity to connect to nature and learn about caring for our protected landscapes.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Spotty Otter so we can inspire the next generation to be Peak District Proud.”

Families and children across the UK are being encouraged to share pictures and stories from their favourite national park on the Spotty Otter website and social media platforms.
