Robin has lived in Derbyshire with his family all his life and loves the outdoors. His favourite place is The Peak District, where he grew up exploring through Scouting and hostelling. He enjoyed it enormously and wants to help ensure that the National Park can continue to thrive and provide enjoyment for future generations.

He is an accountant by training and has spent his working life in the pharmaceutical industry. Latterly he was the CFO for a Pharmaceutical PLC and as he approached retirement, he decided he wanted to keep busy and give something back. So, he co-founded Mount Cook Adventure Centre in 2014 and starting from nothing built and opened the Centre, which is near Matlock, in 2016. Mount Cook is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing access to the outdoors for all, especially young people and those who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

Another post-retirement interest is in acquiring land and managing it, including tree planting, for the benefit of nature and people.

Robin’s other previous roles include a number of Non-Executive Directorships, Chair of Governors at a Community School for 15 years, and treasurer for sports clubs and organisations he has been involved in.

He still enjoys running and walking, especially in the Peak District, and is making the most of it.
